hey everyone, i was just wondering if anyone knew a good way to pluck eyebrows without stabbing your eyeball, because its like 25 dollars to get them waxed, and i'm not rich

In Germany, usually the hairdressers do it for 5 euros but please don't ask me how many dollars that is. I would not dare doing it myself. They don't wax them, however, but pluck them.

In my experience, plucking is a no no if you can't see, not due to the danger of stabbing yourself in the eyeball, for you'd have to have pretty unsteady hands to accomplish that, but because, if you can't see, you won't be able to shape them properly.

Yes, shaping them can be a problem. so, how does one go about trimming eyebrows and have them come out looking nice?

If shaping is an issue, why not try just cleaning up around them, like between your brows at the top of your nose. You can buy at-home waxing kits for pretty cheaply, then if possible, have a sighted person help you. At one time, there were wax strips that were pre measured. I tried them, and they worked pretty well. I can't remember who makes them. Waxing does sting a bit, but usually just at first. If you're taking this route, take two Tylenol before waxing, and then use a wet washcloth to help with any swelling. My mom has a brow shaper that is kind of like a mini rayzor. She likes it, so you could buy one of these. They're pretty cheap, around $10 or so. HTH

How the heck does a brow-shaper work?

i'm not sure where your going for your wax. but, here anyway, an eyebrow wax is only like seven or eight dollars. . so your twenty five is expensive. call around

I have never plucked my eye brows and am not planning on doing it either. it sounds painful.

Ditto. Beyond dealing with the bridge of the nose and the far corner of the eyes, I wouldn't risk it. Shaping is fiddly, and a non-professional job really sticks out. I'd look for a cheap wax. If you're a student, does your campus have a discount beautitian, or a concession arrangement with local businesses? A wax lasts quite a long time as well, and grows back much less visibly than with a trimmer.
Let us know which route you go, I've never tried the little pre-cut strips or the trimmers, so would be curious to know how you find them.

plucking is uncomfortable, but not as painful as wax in my opinion. and putting up with a little discomfort is better than the bushy unibrow. My sister plucks mine for me every few months or so. Between not seeing how to shape them and the cerebral palsy, its just as well to let her do it for me and she does an excellent job.

i cheat.
i use hair removal cream that you get for lady tashes. i use my finger to put it all over the eye brow area and down toward the eye where all the little hairs are. then i use my little finger and rub over my eyebrow to remove the cream from the eyebrow so i dont end up bald. then wait five mins and rub the rest off and your left with perfect shaped brow.

its bit easier if you have any useful vision as you can use the mirror to draw the shape you want to keep with your finger. but i can do it witout looking n mirror. sometimes i use cotton buds to draw the eybrow shape i want to remove the cream as it gives a more dfined look.

i dont pluck now cos i cant see in the mirror and i cant figure out how to feel to pluck.
